EV News Okinawa plans to add 150+ dealers to its network this year Okinawa declares aggressive expansion plans as the company aims to cross 500 Dealerships by the end of fiscal FY20-21 By EV Duniya Editorial 20 July 20203505 views ShareTweet 0 Electric Scooter Manufacturing at Okinawa Unit Gurugram, July 20, 2020: India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturing company Okinawa has announced aggressive dealership expansion plans throughout the country. The company is planning to target reach a dealership network of 500 from their current 350+ dealers network, which also includes the addition of sub-dealers along with the network of primary dealers. Recently the brand also announced the increase in dealership margins from 8 to 11 percent, to promote and support their partners amidst the coronavirus pandemic. While the COVID-19 has forced a slowdown across the automobile industry, Okinawa is optimistic about the Indian Electric Vehicle market and want to accelerate their marketing activities. Primary target states for dealership distribution will be Bihar, Maharashtra, Assam & eastern regions of India. “There is no doubt that it will take a little time for the market to pick up. While things gradually return to normalcy, we plan to grow ourselves across the country to serve the customers better. As the COVID-19 curve flats, there will be a demand for private vehicles. Given the fact that electric vehicles are economically more viable in the longer run, people would want to opt for it. We are spreading our wings to provide our customers across the cities with easy availability of the products and services,” said Mr. Jeetender Sharma- MD and Founder, Okinawa. Currently, the dealership network of the company is operating under the guidelines set by local, state & central government and with a limited staff of around 30 percent. Recently the company sold over 1,000 vehicles within a span of 30 days after lockdown restrictions were lifted by the government. The plan to go aggressively in the market is taken considering the rising demand for electric vehicles in the Indian market. The process to apply for the dealership is very simplified and the process for dealership application is fully online to maintain safety and precautionary measures. Also, the brand is focusing on online marketing to market and spread the word among dealers and stakeholders in their ambitions of electrifying mobility in India.
