Two-wheelers are the common transport mode in India with more than 5 crores of two-wheelers with internal combustion(IC) engines on Indian roads. These vehicles contribute a lot of pollution by burning fossil fuels and that has made us think of alternative energy consumption.

The rise in the average global temperature and the future threat of climate change due to huge emission has created a problem. Electric vehicles(EV) are the solution to this problem and the latest trend indicates that they will be common modes of transport. All scooters, bikes, cars, trains, and light load vehicles will be powered by electric energy in the coming years.

The electric powertrain acts like an engine to an electric vehicle that generates and delivers power to the vehicle required for propulsion. Starya Mobility is a Bengaluru-based retrofitting scooter company that aims to make EV technology affordable and easily accessible to common people. They have indigenously engineered a cost-effective 5.5kw patented PMSM Motor &
Controller unit that will convert petrol scooters to pure electric. After four years of design and testing of an electric powertrain to suit Indian road conditions and climatic conditions, the 5.5kw patented PMSM Motor & Controller unit has got approval from the Automotive Research Association of India(ARAI) for its commercial use.

For the last two years, the company is into RTO-approved retrofitting services now it also aims to supply electric powertrain to EV manufacturers through B2B collaboration. The company strongly believes that this ARAI-approved electric powertrain will be a game-changer in the EV industry by expanding the EV ecosystem with this affordable PMSM Motor & Controller unit. The electric powertrain is unique because it is tested to sustain climatic
conditions in every region of India and this will fulfill the industry demand. The electric powertrain is available at an affordable rate of ₹35,000 which is one-third the price of a brand new scooter.
