Indian bike manufacturer Bajaj Auto has entered the Electric Vehicles market with a bang. They launched their Electric Scooter Chetak earlier this year. The name is bound to bring back old memories for a lot of us.
The Chetak Electric Scooter has been launched in 2 variants with a base price of 1 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2 variants are named as Urbane and Premium and the latter costs 15,000 (ex-showroom) more than the Urbane model.
With the in-house developed Chetak EV, Bajaj Auto marks the revival of the company’s scooter business after about a decade and also Bajaj Auto’s foray into the electric vehicle space.
Bajaj plans to roll out their first EV in a phased manner and has identified Bangalore and Pune to start with. They have identified 13 pro-biking dealerships in Bangalore and 4 in Pune which will retail the new Chetak EV.
The Chetak EV comes in a modern Vespa like look and will not fail to impress the mass. The only thing that may turn off the buyers is its top speed of 60 kmph.
The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has been launched in 2 variants: Urbane and Premium. The Premium model comes with a front disc whereas the Urbane gets a front drum brake.
