Jaguar launches I-Pace SUV in India from 1.06 Cr

It’s well-known that Jaguar’s first electric vehicle, Jaguar-I-Pace, was launched on 23 March 2021 in India. The Jaguar’s electric car is offered in three trims – S, SE, and HSE.

The EV comes with dual electric motors of 400hp and a 90kWh lithium-ion battery. For the charging system, Jaguar has partnered with Tata Power. Recently, Jaguar has released the prices for the three trims. 

• The Jaguar-I-Pace S variant costs Rs. 1.06 crore.
• The Jaguar-I-Pace SE variant costs Rs. 1.08 crore.
• The Jaguar-I-Pace HSE variant costs Rs. 1.12 crore.

Features and variants of the Jaguar-I-Pace

As mentioned earlier, the Jaguar I-Pace comes in three variants: S, SE, and premium HSE trims. The features of the electric car include the following. 

• 19-inch wheels with splendid diamond-cut 
• Shining LED headlamps and tail-lights
• Complete Glass roof
• “InControl” connected electric car technology
• Infotainment system passing through the Pivi Pro, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto Support with double touchscreen
• And a lot more

The premium HSE trim Jaguar electric vehicle is featured with advanced tools including hands-free boot release, a responsive heads-up display, adaptive cruise control, total leather seats made of Windsor, high wattage sound system, 16-speaker, etc. 

The customers can adapt air suspension, climatic control system, air purifier, digitized rearview mirror, and other desired features to their Jaguar-I-Pace car in addition to the features mentioned above. 

Electric Motor and charging systems

The Jaguar-I-Pace incorporates two electric motors producing a combined 400hp and 696Nm torque. The vehicle’s highest speed is 200kph and needs 4.8sec for 0 to 100 kph sprint. The robust 90kWh battery provides a 470km WLRP-rated range in a single charge. 

It’s said that the Jaguar-I-pace requires about 12.9 hours for a full charge. However, the 50kW charger can charge the vehicle for a 270km drive in one hour.

The best part is that the Jaguar is offering an additional 5-year service package and road assistance with a whooping 160000km battery warranty for 8-years. Recently, Jaguar has partnered with Tata Power for charging systems. The tie-up benefits the users, enhancing easier access to charging stations across 23 cities in India. 

The Jaguar is giving tough competition for Mercedes-Benz and Audi-e-Tron.

Performance of I-Pace in US and UK markets.

Despite Jaguar’s immense features and luxury, it is facing an uphill task of competing with Tesla’s electric vehicles. In the American and British markets, Tesla’s cars are in more demand as compared to the Jaguar-I-Pace. At the same time, Jaguar’s sales are struggling to meet the expectations. Only 50% of the expected sales are running for Jaguar in the two markets. 

The main reason for lower than expected demand is the high price of Jaguar compared to Tesla.

Let’s wait and see how Jaguar I-Pace performs in India. Only time will tell how the Indian public responds to the vehicle.
